Training For a Career in CompTIA Explained

January 31st, 2010

There are four A+ exams and study sections, but you only need to get your exams in 2 of them to be considered A+ competent. As this is the case, a great number of colleges simply offer two. However, training you in all four will help you to build a far greater perspective of it all, something you’ll appreciate as an important asset in industry.

When you embark on the A+ computer training course you will develop an understanding of how to build computers and fix them, and work in antistatic conditions. You’ll also cover fault-finding and diagnostic techniques, both remotely and via direct access.

Were you to add Network+ training, you’ll also learn how to look after networks, giving you the facility to apply for more senior positions.

Students will sometimes miss checking on something that can make a profound difference to their results – the way the company divides up the courseware sections, and into how many bits.

Usually, you will join a program requiring 1-3 years study and receive one element at a time until graduation. While this may sound logical on one level, consider this:

Students often discover that their training company’s usual training route isn’t ideal for them. It’s often the case that varying the order of study will be far more suitable. And what if you don’t get to the end in the allotted time?

The very best situation would see you getting all your study materials packed off to you right at the start; the entire package! This prevents any future issues from rising that will affect your ability to finish.

IT has become amongst the most stimulating and innovative industries that you can get into right now. To be working on the cutting-edge of technology is to be a part of the massive changes affecting everyone who lives in the 21st century.

Technology, computers and connections through the web will dramatically shape the way we live our lives in the near future; overwhelmingly so.

And keep in mind that on average, the income of a person in the IT sector in Great Britain is a lot greater than the national average salary, which means you’ll most likely receive noticeably more as an IT specialist, than you’d expect to earn elsewhere.

Due to the technological sector developing year on year, it’s likely that demand for qualified professionals will continue actively for quite some time to come.

We’d all like to believe that our jobs will always be secure and our work futures are protected, but the growing reality for the majority of jobs around Great Britain currently is that there is no security anymore.

Security can now only exist in a quickly growing marketplace, fuelled by a shortage of trained workers. It’s this shortage that creates the appropriate background for a secure market – a far better situation.

The IT skills-gap across the United Kingdom clocks in at just over 26 percent, according to the 2006 e-Skills investigation. Meaning that for every four jobs that are available around computing, there are barely three qualified workers to do them.

Attaining in-depth commercial IT qualification is consequently a ‘Fast Track’ to realise a life-long and pleasing career.

As the Information Technology market is developing at such a rate, is there any other area of industry worth taking into account for your new career.

The perhaps intimidating chore of finding your first job can be made easier by training colleges, through a Job Placement Assistance programme. The fact of the matter is it isn’t so complicated as you might think to secure your first job – once you’re trained and certified; employers in this country need your skills.

Whatever you do, don’t wait till you have qualified before polishing up your CV. As soon as you start a course, mark down what you’re doing and place it on jobsites!

Getting onto the ‘maybe’ pile of CV’s is far better than not even being known about. A decent number of junior support jobs are got by people (sometimes when they’ve only just got going.)

Actually, a local IT focused recruitment consultant or service – who make their money when they’ve found you a job – will be more pro-active than a division of a training company. It also stands to reason that they’ll know the area and local employers better.

A big frustration of many training course providers is how hard trainees are prepared to work to get top marks in their exams, but how un-prepared that student is to get the role they’ve studied for. Don’t falter at the last fence.

Networking Training Courses In The UK Clarified

January 31st, 2010

In these days of super efficiency, support workers who have the ability to mend PC’s and networks, plus give ongoing help to users, are vital in all sections of industry. Our requirement for more technically qualified people multiplies, as society becomes significantly more beholden to computers in today’s environment.

Proper support is incredibly important – look for a package offering 24×7 direct access to instructors, as anything else will annoy you and definitely hold up your pace and restrict your intake.

Always avoid certification programs which can only support trainees through a message system when it’s outside of usual working hours. Companies will try to talk you round from this line of reasoning. But, no matter how they put it – you need support when you need support – not when it’s convenient for them.

If you look properly, you’ll find the top providers which provide their students direct-access support 24×7 – even in the middle of the night.

Never make do with a lower level of service. Direct-access 24×7 support is the only kind that ever makes the grade with technical training. Perhaps you don’t intend to study during the evenings; but for most of us, we’re working when traditional support if offered.

An all too common mistake that we encounter all too often is to focus entirely on getting a qualification, and take their eye off where they want to get to. Colleges are brimming over with unaware students who took a course because it seemed fun – rather than what would get them an enjoyable career or job.

You may train for one year and then end up doing the job for 20 years. Don’t make the error of opting for what may seem to be an ‘interesting’ training program and then spend decades in an unrewarding career!

It’s well worth a long chat to see what industry will expect from you. Which precise exams they’ll want you to gain and in what way you can gain some industry experience. It’s also worth spending time thinking about how far you think you’ll want to progress your career as often it can force you to choose a particular set of exams.

Take advice from a professional advisor, even if you have to pay – as it’s a lot cheaper and safer to find out at the start whether you’ve chosen correctly, rather than find out after several years of study that you aren’t going to enjoy the job you’ve chosen and have to start from the beginning again.

How can job security truly exist anymore? Here in the UK, where industry can change its mind whenever it suits, there doesn’t seem much chance.

We can however hit upon security at market-level, by digging for high demand areas, tied with work-skill shortages.

The IT skills-gap in the United Kingdom is standing at approximately twenty six percent, according to the most recent e-Skills survey. That means for each four job positions existing across computing, we have only 3 certified professionals to fulfil that role.

This disquieting fact shows the requirement for more appropriately accredited computing professionals in the United Kingdom.

Because the IT sector is evolving at such a rate, there really isn’t any other sector worth investigating as a retraining vehicle.

Commercial certification is now, very visibly, taking over from the more academic tracks into IT – why then has this come about?

With university education costs spiralling out of control, along with the industry’s growing opinion that vendor-based training often has more relevance in the commercial field, there has been a great increase in Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA accredited training programmes that educate students at a much reduced cost in terms of money and time.

Vendor training works by honing in on the skills that are really needed (along with a relevant amount of background knowledge,) as opposed to covering masses of the background non-specific minutiae that academic courses can get bogged down in – to pad out the syllabus.

When an employer understands what areas they need covered, then all they have to do is advertise for someone with a specific qualification. The syllabuses are all based on the same criteria and don’t change between schools (in the way that degree courses can).

Explaining Plumbing NVQ and Technical Certificates – Where To Go

January 31st, 2010

To begin with newspapers appear to love discussing what can be earned in Plumbing. Salaries of 30-70k p.a. are often discussed, along with the lack of plumbers within the UK. So, is this really the position or is this basically untrue? To be fair, this wage level is reasonable for the correctly qualified and experienced Plumber. To be fair, the higher earnings of 70-100k p.a. are generally for those working within the self-employed field.

It is fairly usual to expect working hours of 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday with a reputable employer. Salaries of between 15k – 30k p.a. are easily achievable and will include typical benefits such as holiday pay and sickness allowance – what you’d generally expect from any UK employed status. However, if the self employed person is willing to work longer than the normal working hours then more money can be earned. This is especially the case where self-employed plumbers have opted to work in the domestic market, where their clients are at work during the day – requiring evening and weekend visits.

Around which is the question of self employment which appears to fit some people. The inclusion of key elements such as utilising good ‘business sense’, covering areas such as advertising and marketing and getting your own cost-per-hour correct is integral to the picture. Furthermore, additional costs such as materials and transport, along with legal and accountancy fees will need to be paid. Although it is expected that these can be relatively small in relation to the earnings overall they can mount up, but then so can the benefits. And the positives virtually always beat the downsides!

Firstly, it is the ordinary employer who covers most of the needs and teaching prospects that Student Entrants are interested in. The Self Employed Entrant on the other hand will need to widen their list of plumbing accreditations and certifications as quickly as possible. Having said that, the majority of self-employed workers do not join the business sector but focus on the ‘domestic’ market. (Not all, just the majority!)

Considering the education in Plumbing, each path into the industry needs some match in the certification modules. The issue of NVQ’s (or SVQ’s in Scotland) nevertheless appears to cause some difference.

From the beginning the Student Entrant instead of the Self Employed Entrant is much more reliant upon the NVQ requirements. In order to meet their client’s expectations the Self Employed Entrant will often need to use a greater range of certifications. Certainly, it is the qualifications aimed at meeting the needs of the typical household-based client base that self-employed persons need to focus upon. Having covered off the key elements of training within the college, the Student Entrant usually then enters the apprenticeship stage within the workplace – where the NVQ element can be assessed. By using this cheaper form of study the Student Entrant can make sound financial savings from the outset. It is often by gaining certifications faster, by being motivated by a more commercial standpoint that the Self Employed Entrant will achieve considerable financial benefits before a Student Entrant.

It is the required financial rewards that drive the urgency of clear careers discussions, whether they are overall study or certification requirements. It is extremely difficult for adults with a family to look after and needing 20kp.a. to consider going back to college and spending 3 years on low paid-apprenticeship work. Normally, self-employed students to pay for their courses themselves whereas the younger Student Entrants have the majority of their courses paid for them as part of their apprenticeships. Depending on the level of certification sought and the course itself the costs for people can run into 3k to 10k+.

Self Employed Entrants can consider a wide range of private technical colleges as opposed to the reliance on further-education colleges and that differentiates them from Student Entrants. Plumbing training companies can offer commercial routes in to reputable training paths that cover the necessary qualifications and skill-sets. The ability to train in evenings, part-time or in self study classes allowing people to continue with their existing job and maintaining their current financial situation remains one of the key advantages to Self Employed Entrants. With so many training colleges available, it makes sense to gather information from as many sources as possible. We’ve provided links and adverts from several, so why not book-mark this page (CTRL-D) so you can come back later to review your options.

Many plumbing students will increase their ‘marketability’ through the use of further courses. It is by training in areas such as Gas, Green Energy and Electrical that Plumbers can gain extra certifications. A typically popular route for Plumbers is Gas training, especially as this forms part of the usual commercial and domestic heating system.

Gas training in itself is a specific and rigorous training regime, with core subjects followed by an emphasis on NVQ’s. This considers ongoing development, especially for those who trained first as a plumber and are seeking extra skills. It could be said, from that viewpoint, that a hybrid of Plumbing/Gas training would be more suited to the mature student. By reducing the NVQ parts the Mature Student appears to be able to allow the focus on the core subjects.

From this, the self-employed professional appears to suit the variable training schemes. To earn money whilst at the same time as gaining a wider range of perceived skills becomes a desirable prospect. This further enhances their commercial offering, instead of sub-contracting key skills to a third party. Of equal concern is the lowering of customer value as they have to wait for essentials to be handled by others and the reduction of the overall earning potential that ensues from sub-contraction. To have a higher value within their client base a Plumber needs to consider their relative skill sets that they offer.

Finally, whilst the Student Entrant breaks into the industry more quickly the Self Employed Entrant has the opportunity for higher potential earnings, but to do so they need to develop a broader range of certifications and a higher level of business skill sets. Note: The above information is solely relative to the UK market, industry requirements and policies.

Proper Keyword Selection

January 30th, 2010

By cautiously selecting the best applicable keywords and then using solid off-page search engine optimization, you will be almost guaranteed increased online visitors for your site. This is good news for online marketers and anyone needing mass traffic in order to achieve internet sales goals. It takes a little work but is unquestionably worth the effort, so don’t be lazy!

The most important consideration when starting to optimize your website should be keywords. Your web success is determined on how well you can select these; After all, this is what people have entered into Google or another search engine to find what they are looking for.

Keyword phrases should be popular search terms, this means frequent searches are being conducted on Google, Yahoo!, MSN etc. Keywords with a search count of 300 to 500 are good to target. Words with a search count of 500 to 1,000 are great. Search count here implies how many searches per month the term has been searched.

A basic rule of thumb is to pick keyword terms that have a Keyword Effectiveness Index of 10 or greater. KEI is a giant, very complex matter, luckily all you need to focus on is acknowledging that the higher the index number the easier the keyword phrase will be to optimize.

In laymen’s terms, a very popular search keyword phrase with not too many competing sites will have a greater KEI than a high demand search keyword phrase with many, many competing sites.

You are required to focus on keyword phrases that are popular, but not so competitive that ranking in the top 3 pages in the search engines, is within reach.

I need to emphasize, going through the work of off-line optimization using bad keywords is a waste of time. They must be targeted enough to get the targeted traffic but not so obscure that no one is searching for those terms.

The problem with optimizing your web page using poorly picked keyword phrases, your end result may be increased internet traffic, but not getting you the particular type of visitor you had wanted, so it is very vital to get this right, the rest of your search engine optimization efforts are shaped by the initial keyword phrases you finally decide on.

Alcoholic Drinks – My Top Tips

January 30th, 2010

In the West, alcoholic drinks are never far away from the scene at festive times, but do we aways know how to get the most from these costly luxuries? Too many people these days just think its a question of ‘getting as much down as possible in as little time as possible’. This is the wrong approach.

After all, most people realize that a good meal does not consist of eating as many chips as possible in fifteen minutes, so why should that principle not apply to consuming a drink too? You will get far more pleasure from a bottle of wine, if you spend an extra dollar on it and drink it slowly with a friend and some appropriate food than if you swill down a cheap bottle of plonk on your own. It makes evident sense, but not everyone sees it.

So, with that thought in mind, I have put together a few tips on how to get more pleasure from your alcoholic drinks, if you are old enough and of that frame of mind.

Gin and Vodka – if these white spirits are your proffered tipple, always keep the bottle in the fridge, not the drinks cupboard. Keep the mixers in the fridge too. That way the ice will last longer and you will not be tempted to have to swig it down before the ice melts. If you are having friends around, go one step further and put the bottle in the freezer. It will not go solid. You can even cut the top off a plastic cola bottle, put the bottle of gin or vodka in that, fill it with water and then freeze it. Remove the plastic bottle and you have an attractive “collar of ice” around your bottle.

The Last Tot – five minutes or so after finishing a bottle of spirits, tip it out one more time and the bottle that you thought was drained will deliver one more tot of contents. It is not a lot, but it is a pleasant free surprise. The same works for many alcohol based products including underarm roll-on and scent.

White Wine – white wines taste better when they have been gently chilled over a protracted length of time, but if you get caught out by surprise visitors, put the bottle of wine in a jug of ice and cold water. Try not to have to put it in the deep freeze, it is too harsh, but if you must, then ten minutes is all that it takes.

Port – it is always better to decant port and older, heavier red wines, because of the sediment that may be in the bottom of the bottle, which tastes horrible and because it assists the aeration of the wine. However, it is not always easy to see when the dregs are coming. The books say to use a candle, but they were written a hundred years ago. The concentrated beam from a torch is much better. Try using a Durabeam because its rotateable head allows it to be directed more accurately.

Decanters – sometimes the stopper becomes jammed. Tap it with another glass item and it should come loose. If not, run the neck of the decanter under hot water for a few seconds and it will come out.

Labels – if you store your wine in a damp place where the labels are likely to rot or fall off, spray them with hair lacquer first.

Retirement Gift Ideas For Executives

January 30th, 2010

Personalization is the key to giving the ideal retirement present to those top people in business, who have probably known the finer things in life. It must be something that permits them to remember their time in the company, where they had worked so hard for decades to get to the desk of their desires.

The gift should be something to do with their previous business interests, and which, after their whole life-time of successful deals and spot-on investments, reminds them of those business-related activities that gave them pleasure and therefore that will give them pleasure again. These two concepts are fundamental and essential to stimulate the former executive to remember about their working lives, and of course, the person who had given them the gift.

The Golfer: Nothing says leisure and top-flight more than the sport of golf. The number of shops selling golf clubs, gloves, golf-carts and the like has soared over the years due to the proliferation in industries like hedge fund investing and financial advisors in general. More business people simply means more golfers as golf is the sport where most of them do deals and get to know each other. More evidence of this, is that golf courses are becoming more popular in rising economies like India and China, where Mission Hills and many other courses are frequently advertised in the sporting media.

Sometimes, all it takes is a bit of out-of-the-box thinking. For instance, you could emblazon their old company logo, family seal or monogram on some golf balls, markers, tees or on their golf bag in order to suggest the form of privilege that they as used to. For those who often like to take guests to the golf course with them, nothing says group bonding more than a set of personalized golf vests for the four friends!

If your retired friend has done extremely well in a memorable golf tournament, a miniature personalized leaderboard print will also provoke memories just as much as any photos could. With their winners’ podium photos and scorecards immortalized for ever, you can recreate the joi-de-vivre of that particular golf tournament and help the golfer (and other participants) to relive the moment just as if they were winning and enjoying the game all over again.

Recreational Gambling: Some executives spend some of their free time in casinos, where they flaunt their wealth and try to win more at the same time. Such people live life in the fast lane, as hey say, winning and losing a lot of money as they go along. The perfect gift for this kind of person, are gifts that represent his/her lifestyle, like a personally branded cigar or a monogrammed cigar case and cutter. How about a customized deck of cards with logos that represent the retiree’s trade or industry?

You could also opt for the classic present of expensive wine or champagne, the taste of which serves to remind them of the good life by its fantastic taste. A bottle of Chateau Lafite, Cristal Brut or Clos du Mensil are on this list. Presenting ex top-flight executives with these symbols of privilege is integral to the perfect retirement party for them. A personalized cigar case with a monogram and expensive wine go a long way to achieving this.

Conclusion: Nothing else reminds them of their previous lifestyles more than personalized things that reflect their old way of life. Giving these sorts of gifts to retiring executives hits the nail right on the head. They should live their golden years the way they want them to be and thinking along the lines of luxury and personalization will help you discover the best retirement gift for them more easily.

Presents and Gifts – 5 Top Tips

January 30th, 2010

It is a worldwide convention to give gifts for such occasions as birthdays and wedding days, but after that is where the countries start to differ. Britons and people tracing their history back there give gifts on Christmas Day as well.

However, many other Europeans give presents at Christmas on Saint Nicholas’ Day or December 6th. Non-Christian countries usually give presents at New Year.

Whatever you do in your country, giving a gift requires thought. The shops are frequently full of junk at these gift-giving times of the year, but there is also a lot of excellent stuff about, at a price. The alternatives are twofold on the whole.

You can either make something which will be unique, I suppose that this includes personalizing a shop-bought gift or you can think outside of the box, which many people find quite hard. Personally, I find it hard, but it does get easier the more often you try it and the better you know the person you are going to give the gift to.

Here then are a few ideas which you may decide to take on board ‘as is’, or they may motivate you on to better ideas. As I write, Christmas is coming up and then it is Saint Valentine’s day before you know it. We certainly get plenty of opportunity to practice buying gifts in the West!

A Plot Of Your Own: I come from Wales in the UK (is there any other?) and up the way from me a local strip of green-belt land was in trouble. Experts said that it ought to be planted with trees, but the authorities did not have the money, so they advertised six feet square plots of land for sale with a sapling of your choice on it.

You also got a title deed, directions and a photo. Furthermore, the tree would be taken care of for five years until it was established. I know that this is not the only place that did this and it was probably not the first either, but it makes a good gift for a teenager who is thinking about what he or she can do to help the environment.

The Key To Success: some children and their parents will be grateful for this one. Scour the second-hand shops for an older or even an bizarre money box. Fill the money box up to a certain level with various coins that bring that level up to the value that you want to give, but leave plenty of space for the child to put money in too. Who do you give the key to? That depends on how well you know the child.

Starting A Collection: this is a brave, but good one. If you know the child well or are prepared to take on a commitment (such as a godparent should), you could select a set of collectables, like plates, glasses or coins and buy two or three pieces to start the collection off. You can add to it every year. Others will be thankful to you too because they will jump on the band wagon.

In The Bag: if your friend is an invalid or just is temporarily in hospital, it is beneficial to give a wicker basket or a nice bag full of handy items. Choose the items to suit your friend, but everyone might like a writing pad, a pen, a comb or brush, wet wipes or tissues, a small book of verse, a miniature radio with ear plugs, a mirror, straws, a bottle opener, only you know, but you get the idea, I’m sure.

Stamp It: you can buy a large packet of literally thousands of foreign stamps for very little. Buy a stamp album and hinges and you could start a lifelong obsession. It also gives you gift ideas for years to come too.

Going On A Romantic Cruise In Paris

January 30th, 2010

If you are feeling romantic and you want to be alone with your loved one in a romantic place far from petty distractions, why not go to Paris and take a cruise? The cruise ships are beautiful and offer haute cuisine with fine wines and a wide range of dishes. Service on board is excellent and if they know that it is a special trip for you, they will go out of their way to make it even more special.

Just by selecting the city of Paris as your venue, you will be conveying the idea of romance, because as everyone knows, Paris has the reputation of being the capital of the world of romance.

So, how do you go about booking one of these cruises? Well, clearly, first of all, you have to be in Paris. This is not a difficulty, if you live in Europe as there are flights and sleeper trains. If you are American, you will have to take the longer-term view and start saving for next year.

Once in your hotel in Paris, you can either ask reception for details or go to one of the many Tourist Information Centres, where everybody speaks English. The cruise line staff will pick you up from your hotel on the appointed day, so that you will not have the aggravation of having to find your way through a strange, busy city alone.

Once on board, the pampering starts with your welcoming on board and a complimentary drink to ignite the fires of romance. You will enjoy four or more hours of this, depending on which cruise you decide on, but they are all wonderfully romantic voyages aboard beautiful cruise liners.

Generally speaking, the cruise will start on the left bank of the river Seine, usually in the vicinity of the Eiffel Tower. Some of these boats are made of a type of perspex, so that your view of the streets and monuments is unimpeded. And of course, all the sights are lit up at night and in quite a stunning fashion too. You will also be able to gaze downwards into the water itself.

As you cruise on this glass boat you will be entertained by some of the finest musicians that Paris can offer you. Solo instrumentalists; quartets; classical music; solo artiste singers or a duet. There are also cruises with more modern music as well, but I don’t find them as romantic as the more traditional stuff. However, you can take all these particulars into account when you book your romantic cruise in Paris.

You will not only pass by famous landmarks, you will also pass very close by them and even underneath them. Famous bridges; Notre Dame; the Louvre, and many more. Not only that, but you will see all these fantastic historical monuments while being pampered by the best hosts that Paris has to offer and drinking fine wines and champagne, seated at the bow of the cruiser in luxury.

Once your romantic cruise and your meal are over, you will be taken to a lavish show on the Champs Elysees, where you will be given a half bottle of champagne on entry. There is no need to worry about driving, so let your hair down and enjoy yourselves.

When you have had enough of the high life, you will be transported back to your hotel, in the same manner that you were picked up. However, there are other options too. You may want to go back to the hotel on a romantic horse and carriage, it will maintain that romantic mood.
